Wasco Lerdo Highway PUBLIC COMMENT PERIOD END CONSTRUCTION PM 16.0 Comments will be accepted from Los Angeles Ave from April 29 to May 29, 2022 If there are no major comments or requests for a hearing, Caltrans will proceed with the project's design. BEGIN CONSTRUCTION PM 15.6 KERN COUNTY Riverside St SMITH CORNER Orange Ave to Buttonwillow WHAT IS BEING PLANNED? The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) proposes to build a four-legged, single-lane roundabout with a bypass on State Route 43 at its intersection with Santa Fe Way, Los Angeles Avenue, and Beech Avenue in Shafter. The existing pavement within the intersection would be replaced with Type A Hot-Mix Asphalt pavement, and a separate Jointed Plain Concrete Pavement concrete truck apron would accommodate standard Surface Transportation Assistance Act trucks at the center of the roundabout WHY THIS PUBLIC NOTICE? Caltrans has studied the effects this project may have on the environment. Our studies show the project will not significantly affect the quality of the environment. The report that explains why is called an Initial Study with Mitigated Proposed Negative Declaration. This notice is to inform you of the preparation of the Initial Study with Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration and of its availability for you to read and comment on. This notice also offers you an opportunity to request a virtual public hearing WHAT'S AVAILABLE? Beginning April 29, 2022, the Initial Study with Proposed Negative Declaration and other project information will be available for review and copying at the Caltrans District 6 Office at 1352 West Olive Avenue, Fresno, California 93728, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 5:00p.m. The Initial Study with Proposed Mitigated Negative Declaration will also be available at Wasco Public Library, 1102 7th Street, Wasco, California 93280, Monday and Tuesday, from 10:00 am to 6:00p.m. Shatter Library and Learning Center, 238 James Street, Shafter, California 93263, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 am to 6:30pm.
