PUBLIC NOTICE Notice of Intent to Adopt a Negative Declaration/Environmental Assessment and Section 4() Evaluation for Califormia Aqueduct Bridge Replacement Study Results Available) Do you want o publc hearing on changes proposed for State Route 166 Comments wil be accepted from uly 12, 2018 through Aupust 1, thee are ho major comments LOCATION equests for a public hearing Calt NTERSTATE The Calfornia Department of Transportation (Catrans) proposes to replace the California Aqueduct Bridge (Bridge No. 50-0323 atpost mile 1744 on State Route 166 in Kern County with a new bridge. The bridge sits 22 miles east of Old River Road and 5 miles west of Interstate S. The new bridge would be a renforced steel and concrete box girder bridge, approximately 434 feet long and 43 feet 6inches wide, with a vertical height of 21 feet it would have 12-foot-wide lanes and &Hoot-wide shoulders The new bridge would be on the same alignment as the existing bridge. During peoject construction, a detour off State Roube 166 would divert traffic along Old River Road to Copus Road to keep this stretch of State Route 166 clear of traffic while the work is being done ppraximately 6acres of new right-of-way wouild be acquired from adjacent farmland for the project. The proposed work may also have an effect on a historic property, the Calfornia Aqueduct,eligible for the National Register of Historik Places. A Finding of No Adverse Effect under Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act has been submitted to the State Historic Preservation Officer for concurrence Caltrans has studied the effects this project may have on the environment.Ourstudies show it will not ignificantly affect the quality of the environment. This notice is to tel you of the preparation of the Initial Study with Proposed Negative available for you to read and comment on.
