KAISER PERMANENTE. AN OPEN LETTER TO OUR EMPLOYEES At Kaiser Permanente, we are committed to delivering high- quality, affordable care-and we know that starts with supporting the people who care for our patients every day. This week, we returned to bargaining with the Alliance of Health Care Unions, determined to reach an agreement. We recognize that across-the-board wage increases are a key priority for you. That's why we've proposed the most robust compensation package: Today, we cover 99% of your health care premiums, with an average $10 copay. A 21.5% wage increase over four years, with the majority of those increases coming in the first two years. Combined with step increases and local adjustments, you will see an approximate 30% boost in overall wages paid in four years by Kaiser Permanente. To put it in real terms: As an example, a registered nurse in Southern California represented by UNAC/UHCP who currently earns $77.34 per hour would see their hourly rate increase to $101.69 by the end of the four-year contract-an increase of 31.5%, which includes across-the-board pay increases and step increases. A full-time RN working 40 hours per week would see an increase in wages from $160,861 to $211,513 per year. We remain committed to reaching a fair agreement. Kaiser Permanente is proud to be nationally recognized for our leading health outcomes and to be among the highest-rated health plans in every region we serve. We are also committed to being the best place to give and receive care, including continuing to meet and often exceed-California's mandated nurse-to-patient ratios and staffing standards. This includes a shared interest in ensuring your voice is heard in the patient scheduling process. During one of the more challenging times in health care, we are offering an investment of almost $2 billion for Alliance- represented employees. Meanwhile, the Alliance's demand for a 25% wage increase would add nearly $1 billion in wage costs. We look forward to reaching an agreement at the bargaining table while meeting our obligation, during these unprecedented times, to keep health care accessible and affordable. Thank you for the important work you do for our members and patients every day. For more information, visit kp.org/labor KAISER PERMANENTE .
