My passion to keep the district focused on learning and achievement for ALL students requires me to utilize collaborative and communication skills. I help my team to be more successful through communication and collaboration as well as loyalty and support. MY listening skills ensure opportunities for the diverse range of views in the community to inform board deliberations. As a team player, I will help create a framework where the board can work respectfully and competently with each other, the superintendent, district staff, parents, students and the broader community.
Knowledge is power and effective leadership experience matters. I have had the opportunity to work in public education as a successful teacher and an administrator. My experience as a board member has allowed me to to be a strong legal, legislative, and public advocate for students while serving in key local, state and national leadership positions. I have engaged in professional development across the country and earned a Masters in Governance. My focus has been on Student Achievement, Safe Schools and Parent and Community Engagement in Bakersfield City School District.
