About

The Kern County Gun Club broke ground for its new facility in September 2002, two years after the old club (located on China Grade Loop near Gordon's Ferry) closed for good. The club now consists of nine trap fields, eleven skeet fields, a 20-station sporting clays facility and one five-stand field. The facility includes a modern club house with patio as well as a large covered patio with full restrooms set on the sporting clays course. A pattern wheel is available for those wishing to see how all those pellets line up. RV parking with water and 50 amp electricity is available. Kern County Gun hosts major skeet tournaments including the 2013 eleven state Zone 7 Skeet and the 2014 California State Skeet Championships plus annual tournaments such as the Ken Barnes and Desatoff Open. Check events for Trap shooting tournaments. Our sporting clays course is busy with a variety of events that attract huge numbers of shooters, particularly the Dennis Burtch Memorial shoot. Our youth shooting, the Scholastic Clay Target Program (SCTP), is very popular and offers instruction, ammo and lunch over several months for a nominal fee. The SCTP is generously supported by the NRA. Shotguns are available for the youth program. Check our Calendar of Events to view what's upcoming.
